Cricket is a game played with a bat and ball by eleven players of the two teams at a 22 yard long pitch. It contains a wicket at both sides of the pitch. One team is supposed to bat which attempts to score many runs as possible while the other team fields. Innings is the name of each phase of play that is either bowling or batting. After the dismissal of ten batsmen, the overs have been completed and the batting side is dismissed to bowl. Therefore, the innings get ended and both swap their roles. The winning team is the team which scores the most runs in an innings.

At the beginning of cricket match, both teams enter the field with eleven players. The play begins with two players batting at once, on the other hand, a player of the opponent team is supposed to bowl. The batsman role is to prevent the ball hitting the stamps or else he/she will be dismissed from batting. One of the batsman at the start of match is known as striker while the second batsman is known as non-striker as he/she wait for his/her turn at the bowling side of the pitch. However, the bowler is intended to prevent both the runs and dismiss the batsman. When a batsman gets out or dismissed than other team player replaces him/her at the crease. It goes on in the same way until all the overs get finished or all the batsmen are dismissed.

The common forms of dismissing the batsman is Bowled; when the ball hits the wicket, Leg Before Wicket (LBW); when the batsman tries to prevent the ball from hitting the stamp with his body rather than the ball, Catch out; when the batsman hits the ball in the air and is caught by the fielder of an opponent team before hitting the ground, Hit-Wicket; when the batsman itself hits the wicket unconsciously while batting and the last one is Run-out; when the batsman is running but could not reach the crease and the wickets. However, the Leg Before Wicket decision has to be made by the empires.

The international governing body of Cricket game are called International Cricket Council (ICC) and  Marylebone Cricket Cliub (MCC). Although, majority of the laws are being regulated by the ICC. There are various formats of Cricket known as Twenty20 in which there is a single innings match of 20 overs, Test Cricket which poses a two innings game for consecutive five games and ODI Cricket which a single innings play between the two teams for 50 overs match. In ODI games, players of the team usually wear their team kits whereas; they wear white traditional kits for the test matches and in very rare case, they have to wear team or club kits when subjected to limited overs.

The origin of Cricket could be traced from 16th century when it was initially played in Sout-East England but then it started to expand across the globe with the expansion of the British Empire. The first international match was played in 19th century. The governing body of Cricket ICC has over 100 members in which ten are full members who play test cricket. More interesting is that the Women Cricket matches are played and organized separately and has also been able to achieve international standard. Cricket is the second most popular game in the World after Football and has most number of spectators especially in Australia, West Indies, Ireland, Great Britain, South Africa and the Indian Sub-Continent. Since the inception of Cricket, it has started to gain ground across the World rapidly and it is widely known as Gentlemen Game.
